Five years ago this month Mission Cup Coffee was born. Back then it was known as The Mission Cup. I was roasting coffee on my grill with a Whirly Pop popcorn popper and a dream of making a business out of it.
And here we are…five years later…wow.
Much as changed over the course of time. Our name, our logo, our roasting equipment, our knowledge, and our location. But the one thing that has never changed is our mission – to help the spread of the gospel around the world.
We started out wanting to help people go on mission trips and to support organizations that were gospel centered in their focus and mission. As time progressed, God narrowed our scope to the nation of India. And to this day, we still send a portion of our profits to Life Light Ministry in Bihar, India.
Many of you are familiar with the Big Giving Cup and that all of the tips we receive from our amazing customers are donated to various organizations and causes – some local, some national, and some international.
Five years ago, one of our first fundraising missions was to support Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) and their Action Pack ministry. VOM supports and assists Christians around the world who are suffering under persecution for their faith. The Action Packs contain items to meet physical needs such as a tarp, zip ties, a blanket, sheets, soap and sponge. The countries where these packs are distributed are extremely poor. It’s a practical way to love and support our brothers and sisters who are suffering for the faith.
So – in honor of our 5 year anniversary we will be donating all of the Big Giving Cup tips to Voice of the Martyrs to fill Action Packs. In 2015, our goal (which we met) was 3 packs (they are $50 each and the cost helps cover shipping costs). This month our goal is 10 Action Packs.
Will you help us celebrate five years by supporting this mission? We sure hope so.
