As we draw near to our long awaited opening day I thought it would be a good idea to highlight some of the aspects of our shop. I like to have my expectations set accordingly, and therefore I always want to make sure that others know what to expect of me. Some would say I am an over-communicator…I like to think I am thorough 😉
First off – though we would be considered a coffee shop – Mission Cup Coffee isn’t going to fit the mold of what many would think of when they hear that term. We are all about keeping things simple (easier to keep things in order!) So how will it be different when you walk in the door?
Well for starters when you walk in, you will notice there are no tables and no chairs. Why? The main reason is space. Our shop is tiny (and we love it!) so there isn’t room for tables and chairs. Now this doesn’t mean you aren’t welcome to hang out and chat – we’d love it if you did. You’ll just have to stand while you do!
Secondly, our menu will be very simple. Many of you are used to walking into a coffee shop and hearing the sound of an espresso machine, seeing a shelf full of flavored syrups and a menu a mile long – this can quite honestly be overwhelming. You will not hear or see these things at Mission Cup Coffee. We will be serving pour over coffee. For those of you who visited us at Monticello’s Farmers Market in the past, you will be familiar with what this means. There are no big expensive coffee brewers – but rather a couple of kettles, a couple of Chemex pour over carafes and some air pots. The coffee will be made fresh by hand for you. No espresso menu – just fresh roasted, hand poured, delicious coffee. We will also offer cold brew coffee for you ice coffee fans. And one other thing – we have one size coffee. One size fits all, right? Whether it is a fresh brewed hot coffee or an icy and refreshing cold brew – you won’t have to agonize over what size to order. We made it easy for you.
Even though you won’t hear the sound of espresso shots being poured, you may at times hear or see our roaster running. That’s right (for those of you who don’t know) we are roasting our own coffee right in the shop. That means it is fresh and roasted with love just for you. Bags of the fresh roasted beans will be available for sale in 1 lb. and 4 oz. sample sizes. We will also have other
And last, but not least are the baked goods. Who doesn’t love a fresh baked muffin or scone with their morning coffee?
So there you have it. Simple. Simple. Simple. But that is the way we feel the Lord has led us to have things. This allows more time for conversation and fellowship with our customers. And provides for lower overhead to enable us to give a portion of our profits to help the spread of the Gospel in India and other places around the globe. I will expand on this in an upcoming post.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
