Welcome to the first issue of our Mission Dispatch blog series.
My goal with the first few editions of this series is to give background on the “Why” of Mission Cup Coffee. This particular post will give a general overview of where we got started.
The lay the groundwork, it is important to understand the foundation of why we started this venture in the first place. Simply put – it can be summed up in two main scriptures.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-21, English Standard Verson

For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
Romans 10:13-15, English Standard Version
Between February 2017 and April 2019, my husband, Freddie, and I were blessed with the opportunity to take four short term mission trips to India. One of those trips lasted for a month. My husband had made his first trip in 2015. At the time of his first trip, I had no interest in, nor did I ever believe that God would call me to go. But in lieu of going, I decided to start Mission Cup as a way of helping gospel work to the nations. Long story, short – my initial impression of not being called to go was incorrect.
As time went on, Mission Cup grew in popularity in our local area through Farmers Market and even a couple of brick-and-mortar shops. In 2020, we became affiliated with a Christian ministry in the northeastern Indian state of Bihar – Life Light Ministries.
Though we are not a non-profit organization, we do send support to this ministry monthly from the profits of coffee sales. We also assist with special projects and needs as they arise. Through our sales of coffee, we have been able to assist in finishing a church building, building a church building, as well as assisting two pastors with starting small businesses in order to help support their families. We ourselves do not draw any profit from Mission Cup, but rather choose to invest back into the business and to have funding available for our brothers and sisters in India.
God has been gracious in allowing us to be part of his work in India.
So, why missions?
Why India?
Why Life Light Ministries?
These topics will be discussed in upcoming posts. I hope you will join us to learn more about Mission Cup Coffee and what we believe to be our ministry for Christ.
