Today marks our second anniversary at our brick and mortar shop. Though technically, we have been doing this for 5+ years it feels more official now that we are actually in a store.
So much has been discovered and learned over the course of the last two years. We have had successes and failures. We have had challenges, trials and victories. Through it all – the ups and the downs – we have trusted that God has been in control the entire time.
When I think back to the fall and winter of 2018 and the preparations we were making then, I remember all the big ideas we had; the things we over-planned for and under-planned for. But as Proverbs 19:21 says,
“Many are the plans in the mind of a man,
but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.”
So as we step into our third year of business, we all know that things in this nation are uncertain. We don’t know what lies ahead and what challenges we will face in this new year. But what we do know is that God is God. He is sovereign, he is just, he is perfect, he is holy – and his plans and purposes will stand. We still believe and trust that he called us into this business for the sake of the glory of his name. So…we will persevere just as we have thus far.
If 2020 taught us anything, it is that we must be flexible, teachable and creative in how we approach doing business. God sustained us through all of the challenges that 2020 brought…he allowed those challenges. So as we step into this new year, we do so with confidence that he will continue the good work he has started.
We have resolved in our hearts to make the focus of this year glorifying God more, being bolder in our faith, and rooting ourselves deeper into Christ. We also have plans to bring you more information and updates about the ministries we are supporting through Mission Cup Coffee. The goal is to show that God is on the move for his glory and his gospel is being taken to the nations – in many cases in locations where the name of Christ has never been heard.
From a business aspect we are also working to bring new offerings to the table for our customers. These include online coffee sales and a menu of low carb and diabetic friendly baked goods. But don’t worry, we will still be offering our deliciously fresh roasted coffee and the made-from-scratch baked goods you have come to enjoy and expect when you walk in the doors. We have revamped our shop to expand the kitchen and roasting area. This means that our seating area is no longer. We will be carry out and curbside only. We know that is a disappointment to some of you, but we trust you will understand.
We couldn’t ask for a better community to serve. The encouragement, patronage, and love we have received from Monticello exceeded our expectations thus far. Lord willing, we hope to serve you for the long term.
Here’s to 2021. May God be glorified and his name exalted!
In Christ,
Freddie & Jenn
