The Journey Begins - Mission Cup Coffee

I have had some inquiries about our new storefront. Naturally, people want to know what we will offer, what our hours will be, etc. While we are still working out some of the finer details we do have a vision that we think will serve our customers very well.

Our new space is tiny…really tiny. However, the main purpose of this shop is coffee roasting, selling the coffee beans and serving the coffee we roast. At least initially, it was never intended to be a full service coffee shop with tables, free wifi, lunch menu and the bottomless cup of coffee – so actually, this spot is perfect. It will allow us to roast the coffee, bake some goodies and serve coffee to-go. We also plan to have a small retail area in the front for various craft / handmade items, coffee related items, along with being able to buy bags of delicious fresh roasted coffee. Keeping things simple to start off with and growing as God allows is our plan.

We’ve also had some people, who are familiar with the location, asking if we are going to have a drive-thru window (and encouraging us to do so!) we haven’t tackled that yet – though the idea is very appealing. It would involve several different things, so for now it is not a concrete plan, though we would love to do it!

Our hours will be early morning to later morning (we have yet to work out the exact details) to cater to the commuters and early morning coffee drinkers. Weekday hours and Saturday morning hours will be most likely – naturally we will be closed on Sundays. Online coffee bean orders will also be available when we open via our website.

I wanted to share a few pictures of the interior and plan to keep you all updated as we make improvements and changes during the process. I love before and after shots, don’t you?

This picture was taken standing at the front of the shop, looking back. This space is blank canvas. Paint, construction, remodeling will be happening over the next couple of months. As you can see, it is a long and narrow space. Unfortunately, though we love the exposed brick look in the back, it will most be covered once the kitchen is in place.

As you can tell, there’s a lot of work to be done. But by God’s grace, we have an amazing system of support and help throughout this process. God has also blessed us with amazingly supportive landlords. Paul and June are a joy to work with.

One of the best things about it all, is that it isn’t about me or Freddie, or really even just about coffee. This has become a ministry which involves many people. It’s about the gospel and bringing glory to the God who holds it all in His hands. We look forward to this journey and we are so glad that you are a part of it.
